Last night’s MSFW Designer Runway 2 was spectacular from start to finish. Getting things off on a high note with a macchiato from the clever Vittoria Cafe cart at Melbourne Town Hall (in a schmancy Alice McCall cup, no less), I waited for the show to begin and watched as a troupe of white onesie-clad modern dancers undulated their way along the runway. Their modern dance was a fitting introduction to an ultra-futuristic set of collections, shapeshifting their way into Spring. Here’s Ruby Slipper‘s highlights of the event. Style notes: Ralph Lauren top and skirt, Emily Green and Dinosaur Designs accessories.
Like glowing Dutch masters rendered modern, the makeup schema for Designer Runway 2 was exceptional. Model in Manning Cartell.
One of my favorites – Livia Arena’s delicate braille cut-out details brought a simple design another level of interest.
Lace cut in a braille-like motif from Livia Arena.
Intergalactic Wonder Women hit their strides in Tettman.Doust. Glamazons.
Cut out in all the right places.
Sweet whimsy from Alice McCall. The patterns on this outfit remind me of Mirka Mora’s dreamy birds and angels.
Modern folkloric twists and shorts from Alice McCall.
Neo Dia warriors.
YB J’aime by Yeojin Bae featured very wearable cutout peplum tops, and an array of capes light enough for the summer.
Kinki Gerlinki – wild shapes and bold texture from Christina Exie.
