One of the most energetic and visionary people in Melbourne when it comes to supporting and fostering emerging local designers is Jane Hayes – Director of Jane Hayes Consulting and member of the extended Ruby Assembly family. Jane is the brains behind The Australian Edit, an emerging designer fashion market held at prestigious Yering Station in the Yarra Valley. The Winter Edition of The Australian Edit was held on a perfectly blue-skied Saturday, showing off Yering’s manicured grounds, architecture and sculpture to full effect. Here are some images from the day.
Wearing Witchery leather skirt, Obus woolen jacket and Zola Collections suede booties
Held in a rustic, renovated barn, The Australian Edit showcased designers including Silvarai Jewellery and offered a treasure trove of new discovery from small makers.
My discovery of the day? Amazing jewellery by designer Kim Victoria (above) – bluntly dazzling rings that look hewn from the earth itself. Kim’s website is also luxurious – a uniquely Australian aesthetic is core to her aesthetic. Coming soon to Ruby Assembly digits!

The Australian Edit was also a great reason to take a refreshing drive to the country, to sip on a little of Yering Station’s famous wine and to catch up with good friends. How chic does yummy-mummy-to-be Cecylia look in her double denim?
