What better a way to spend a sunny Melbourne afternoon than by attending a new-season fashion premiere whilst quaffing vino and munching cupcakes? ‘Twas no dream, dear reader. It was today’s launch of eveningwear and cocktail dress maven Cathleen Jia’s new Autumn/Winter Collection at florist-to-the-faboosh Domain Flowers. Inset L-R: Kyra Pybus of Pybus PR, Designer Cathleen Jia, Iolanthe Gabrie.

Although an unlikely venue at first thought, Domain Flowers is a beautiful space for intimate indoor launches or parties. The jewel-like, softly glistening gowns by Catherine were offset by quietly elegant terrariums, pink blushed roses and more by Domain Flowers. Revellers were fuelled by cupcakes from new shrine to all things cupcakey Cupcake Central. The Oreo and Cookie Dough Cupcakes were very luxurious, a perfect birthday gift or special morning tea.

Cathleen Jia’s collection also include a range of delicately beaded headpieces with birdcage netting (so coquettish), and unusual lace and pearl soft-feel bracelets. Here’s Cathleen, modelling a deco-style piece that could well be worn in ABC’s upcoming Miss Fisher’s Mysteries.

Congratulations on a beautiful launch Cathleen!
