Today’s brief Ruby Assembly blog appeals to your inner Parisian girl. You know, that lissome version of yourself swanning around outside the Plaza Athenee with a Chanel 2.55 bag, black coffee and flaky croissant spread with thick Bonne Maman jam. Although this exact fantasy may only be one you can play out a few times in your life, you can at least get the accessories needed to complete it on a more regular basis here in Melbourne at Parisian Street Society. Enjoy this little vicarious shopping journey to Shannyn’s Parisian Street Society (Shop 7, 101-105 Toorak Road, South Yarra Ph: 0406430200) which is literally festooned with items like those inset above – sexy Chanel statement jewellery, delicate Hermes bangles and everything else that glitters and makes you salivate. Mais, oui!

Shannyn (left) is the creative eye behind this unique ‘curated’ collection of vintage frenchy-chic baubles. She has an amazing knowledge of the history behind all of her pieces, and I was lucky enough to borrow a Donald Stannard vintage neckpiece for my attendance at the recent REIV Awards for Excellence. Here we are doing our interpretation of the famous ‘Skinny Arm’.

Amazing, eh? I felt very Elizabeth Taylor in Antony & Cleopatra. Here’s what Shannyn says about the history of the piece. “This is a rare (unsigned) Donald Stannard vintage 70’s lucite twin lion necklace. Many of Stannard’s pieces are unsigned but very recognisable! Its a modernist design with gold tone metal elaborately carved into two regal lions with lucite middle stone and poured glass green stones. This particular piece is actually a famous book piece called ‘The Twin Lions’ and it is featured in many vintage collector books.”

Chanel of Gaga-esque proportions.

Shannyn and Kyra, enjoying being liberally surrounded by Gucci & friends. Nice millinery!

So… this is not strictly Parisian Street Society related…. but they ARE macarons which are the perfect pick-me-up post Parisian Street Society shopping. These little babies are from Chez Dre.
