Phwoar!! Get a load of our strong and fabulous Business Ninja of the Week – Jane Cornes. Jane is the Director of Lady Jane Healthy Living, an innovative online business which encourages women to look at their health, nutrition and all round beauty. Given that we’ve just blogged about Run Melbourne, Jane Cornes appears a timely Ninja to feature. Here’s Jane!
1.What makes your business magical, setting you apart from other competitors?
Lady Jane Healthy Living is for all women who share an interest in good health and a passion for life. We’re your online resource for complete, unique and up to date beauty and nutrition information. Through our own personal and industry experience, our goal is to move women to good health through education, networking and support without being intimidating, unlike many others out there. Deep down we are all searching for the same fulfilment – to be happy and content within ourselves. We all have aspirations, dreams and fears. Sometimes these fears get a hold of us in ways that send us spiralling – the fear of not achieving, being the best mother, most dedicated worker or accomplished partner. At times the balance seems skewed. My goal through Lady Jane is to help empower women to be their best… to find motivation to invest in a healthier lifestyle involving exercise and good nutrition. Taking time out to invest in oneself.
2. What are your maddest ‘ninja skillz’ in health and fitness?
Roller blading to work each day! It takes me 17 minutes, sometimes faster than driving and getting the red lights. Whilst I power along the beach esplanade at a speedy pace with my laptop in a back pack on my back, I often make some work calls to give me a head start for the day.
3. How did your lightbulb moment in creating your business come about?
I have a wonderful supportive husband who has a passion for the same things in life. We love living a positive healthy life and there is nothing more fulfilling to see our advice and motivation change people’s lives for the better. Combing our business expertise and industry knowledge we came up with the concept to open a business in helping people change their lives for the better. My super intelligent Entrepreneurial Mother brain stormed the name ‘Lady Jane’ over a family event. Within 2 days I had bought the domain name, registered the business name and found ourselves a fantastic web developer.
4. What is your earliest memory?
Snow skiing at Mt Hotham when was 2.
5. What would your last meal be?
Ladybird choc crunch protein bar. It tastes like a mars bar without the sugars and calories. Yum!
6. What is your best tip for choosing working partners?
Ensure that you have a common shared goal or objective. Collaborate your marketing ideas and be very clear about your initial funds you have to invest. Creating a marketing plan as a part of the initial agreement will save a lot of frustration down the track. Be totally open and honest.
7. What is your favourite sound?
The sound of my little 2 year old boys laugh. So cute. It completes me!
8. Who would you like to invite to dinner?
My Mum and Dad. They are the most inspiring and supportive people in my life. They have built up a large international corporate enterprise. I learn so much from them and also adore being in our amazingly loving family environment. There is never a dull moment. I suppose if there was 1 more person I could invite, it would have to be Janine Allis, founder of Boost Juice. We share many common interests and I aspire to create my success to a level similar to hers.
9. What is something unexpected that has come from your work?
I met my husband! I am a strong believer of “Live life to the fullest. Follow your dreams, let your heart guide you and surround yourself with people who love and inspire you”.
