This week meet the inspiring Kirsten Reynolds, Director of Kreatrix. Kirsten has a diverse background and offers a unique set of training and implementation skills to the hair and beauty industry. Having been at the helm of several internationally respected brands Kirsten’s venture into Kreatrix has opened many new doors.

1. What makes your business magical, setting you apart from other competitors?

What sets me out from my competitors is the diverse range of skills that I offer, from hands on practical experience in hairdressing/make up to event management, on stage presentation skills training, business management and an array of other areas.

2. What are your maddest ‘ninja skillz’ at Kreatrix?

That would have to be my understanding of hair colour, after training the science and technology of 3 leading international brands to many hairdressers of Australia, this has given me a platform to leverage my experience from.

3. How did your lightbulb moment in creating your business come about?

I had left a previous role due to personal choices and realised on a short holiday to NZ that if I still loved my industry and didn’t want to stay in the same role or previous roles, then why not create the right one to suit me. It all began from there….

4. What is your earliest memory?

If we’re talking about childhood, my brother used to take me in the back of his tricycle and put me in the bottom tray, at the back of the bike like I was a doll/teddy and take off with me when Mum and Dad weren’t looking. I didn’t ever come back from those adventures, looking neat in the same way I had left the house.

5. What would your last meal be?

A mean Thai! In Thailand of course, who says you can’t travel at that age?

6. What is your best tip for recruiting staff or choosing business partners?

Know your market and know the culture you are trying to create when recruiting. I’m a firm believer that you can train a skill, but not a personality. When choosing business partners, see who you want to align your business with and who will also represent you well in the market.

7. What is your favourite sound?

Live music, as I love to listen to anything that puts a smile on my face. Nothing better than A day on the green on a sunny day with friends and family.

8. Who would you like to invite to dinner?

Angelina Jolie-Am intrigued about her life, from stardom to her spirit of supporting charities in various countries

9. Who has inspired you to be a better ‘Business Ninja’?

My family have all assisted in my development, whether it’s been my Dad with a Marketing/Sales/Product Management background to my brother with IT/Accounting/Management experience to my Mum who still hairdressers and also did a Psychology Degree and now working with various charities.
