This morning’s REIV Breakfast meeting was very memorable, featuring the inspiring story of Kurt Fearnley.

A mildly bleary-eyed but still well-dressed group of Melbourne’s best estate agents rocked up to the REIV Breakfast meeting this morning at the Hilton on the Park, East Melbourne.

Recently renovated, the first floor ballroom was rather gorgeous. This little Ruby Assembly was lucky enough to sit next to the fabbo Chauntel Considine from Considine Real Estate. After a beautiful cooked brekky and fruit – plus networking – we were very ready to hear from the guest speaker.

Kurt Fearnley was today’s inspiring speaker. I have been to many of these breakfasts before (Robert de Castella, Eagleboys Pizza), but today was truly the best experience.

Kurt is a paralympian who has achieved several gold and silver medals in long-distance and marathon categories. He is very well known for his Kokoda (he calls is Mokoda!) trail trek last year in support for Movember. He crawled the 100k track with the support of his 15 family members who joined him on the expedition. Kurt showed us really moving film of his time of the track, and availed us of interesting and saddening stories of the diggers who came before – and what the concept of Kokoda means for the future.

He also took us through the paces of his gruelling training regime for the upcoming Commonwealth and Olympic games, and took questions from the floor about how he manages to maintain motivation when he occasionally misses his mark. For the girls – he also had said he met Eva Longoria (who wasn’t a great type according to Kurt).

A fabulous morning had by all – will you be seeing Iolanthe from Ruby Assembly Consultants next Thursday at the Young Agents New Financial Year ‘do?

We hope so!
